Very Good amBient PieCe!!

I really enjoyed your use of real life outdoor samples. That's something that i've been trying to find a way to integrat into my songs for a while. The problem is that i haven't been able to find a good sound library, or buy a condenser mic. Anyways, I also really liked the synths you incorporated into the song. The ambient bells especially seemed to match the mood of the piece very well. Now were those jungle samples you used? It sounded almost as if they were a combination of multiple environments. Anyways, great job! Keep up the good work! Now, if i were to change one thing, i might add a mild drum beat to the background, or diversify the piece a little bit. But besides that, it was absolutely awesome tastic. 5 for sure.

TheOrichalcon responds:

I do have another version of the track that is much less ambient and involves more focus on percussion. This one's the "seductive mix" I suppose because I removed all harsh tones from the mix, including percussion. The sound effects were from a game called Anarchy Online. I enjoyed the ambience in that game so it suited the style I was after. Glad you enjoyed it.

good job dude!

Ok, so the way that this song has been treated shows exactly why I hate the newgrounds audio portal so much. Basically, the song gets one five, does well in the portal for a little while, then gets zeroed by some motherfucker, and disappears into the blue. Man, all i have to say, is good job on this song, especially on the bass. One thing that you need to work on though, would be creating a real driving and moving drumline. One that doesn't seem syncopated but just flows. if you wan't to know what i'm talking about, check out my latest song Psychotic Tendencies, which had a similar fate to this song, only it happened right from the get go. Anyways, keep doing what you're doing. You're remixes are bitchin, and you're pretty sick at adding nice bass and lead synths.

Peace out!

I know. Its probably some sorry bitch whose music is too shit to get anything higher than 'zero'. So it is his sworn duty to wreck all the good artists stuff. He hits a lot fo people. I bet he is some fat 35 year0old bastard that sits at his computer all day eating pizza and listening to Bruce Springstien.

I am proud of the bass. It is actually a really big Tech-House Bass kick that I looped and FXed the crap out of. I used it twice. Once for the distorted lead-type synth. And once for the subbass. XD Sweeet. :P

Yeah. I didn't try that hard on the drums. LOL. It was a DNB loop I got from Reason. I sliced it up and added some FX.

I'll chek it out next. :D

XD Why thankyou. LOL. I try. :P Thanks for the review. Next stop: Your audio page. :P

not bad

k, here's my basic suggestions for this song. Basically, the beat was pretty awesome, but i felt like the beginning was really lacking in the synth department. Now i might also work on making a main line that's a little more catchy and less repetitive next time, but at the same time, catchy is all a matter of opinion. So keep doing what you do, and keep on truckin. You're doing a good job!

DJ-SkiLLz responds:

thanks man those are some really help tips
i can really see how it would help
this song didnt turn out as well as a planned and im still not totally happy with it
i dont think im going to do much more to it though its takin up alot of my time
so yea
thanks alot!
peace and chicken grease mateeeeee!

Man, you are awesome at this stuff!

I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere that this song has. I really enjoyed the choirs most out of all of the instruments put in this piece. Now, i would have to say that this song has a great progression to it, and it would sound fantastic in the sort of game that you wrote it for. Great job dude. I honestly can't think of any sort of constructive criticism for this piece. Great piano, great everything. I guess all i can say is keep doing what you are doing!

Peace out!

MaestroRage responds:

It's alright, I greatly appreciate your support Pink, I myself love choir works, besides Strings, they are my favorite form of expression.

They say the human voice is unparalleled in emotion, though there is traces of truth in the statement, I don't quite agree. I've heard some damn sad Violins :'(

In any case, i'm glad you liked it, thank you again for the review.

Dude, you rock!

I'm just writing this as a preliminary review before i go and truly analyze your music so i can see what sort of constructive advice i can come up with. All i have to say for now is that you are by far one of the most polished artists on this sight, and i love it! You are by far under appreciated by the masses, and i wanted to let you know personally. Keep making music! You rock!

crud responds:

thank you very much. sometimes i foregt why i still submit stuff here, but then i read stuff like your review and get pumped. thank you again.

Great job!

Dude, your compositional skills are outstanding, and this piece shows that for sure. My one bit of constructive criticism would be that you should master the voice a little better next time so it sounds a bit clearer, but that is assuming that you didn't intend for the voice to sound the way it does. I mean, to be perfectly honest, besides the ever so slight voice difficulty, this piece is practically perfect. I would just work on mastering it a little better next time so it doesn't sound too crowded at certain points. If you don't yet have a mastering program, i would suggest izotope ozone. But anyways, you have done a fantastic job on this piece. It would fit perfectly in a castlevania game.
Now, honestly, i'm really curious about what sort of approach you take when your writing your songs. Meaning, do you start out with the beginning and just improvise from there, or do you lay out some sort of plan and then follow suit. Because, whatever it is that you're doing, it's working 100%.

MaestroRage responds:

Thanks PinkWalrus :D! I'm glad you liked the piece!

The voice was indeed quite difficult to master, but it was great practice for me, and LadyArsenic's voice made it really easy to work with!

Approaches you say eh?

Well I won't lie, I used to make up some simple melody, riff, or chord, and then randomly built off that. Nowadays however I don't will build a somewhat complicated segment, or part of the song. Around 30 seconds in length. I will then listen to that segment for a while to see what ideas I can stem for before and after it.

After that, i'll try to emphasize the feeling with different instruments and counter melodies.

However this too is fast becoming an old tactic, nowadays i'll build the songs bones, and then just flesh it out. Thats not to say from time to time I don't just go with the flow, but it's better to be able to build what you want, rather then what you are feeling at the time.

Thanks for the review again, i'm glad you liked it ^^.

i like... I LIKE!!!!

Dude, you did a nice job on this song, especially on the drumbeat. It just had a very nice fluid feel to it. It sounds as if the song were driving through a city while a bunch of crazy shit was going on around it, but the song doesn't care, it just keeps on plodding. Nice job. I five this bytch.

Envy responds:

The thing about this song was, it was really easy to make... It's good having a good beat to build on cause it just flows out of you, and you dont even have to work... Your mind does it for you! Thanks for the review (I love that first drumfill XD)

Nice

This is a pretty interesting remix here. It's nice because it really doesn't sound anything like the original song. That was due to a nice use of sampling there, which was not corny in the least in this song. I've been listening to some of your other stuff here, and i'd have to say that you do a really good job at the composition and mastering of these pieces. Though i do not find this remix nearly as catchy as the original song, it's understandable when you're dealing with such hit track. Now, my criticism would be that the entire song sounded as if it could use a speed jump but it never sped up, it just remained the same pace. But anyways, good job on this and all of your pieces. Keep up the good work.

P.S. to answer your earlier question, i'm using fruity loops plus the plugins Atmosphere, Massive, and FM8, plus the mastering program Ozone. You should be able to google them without much trouble.

zakk123 responds:

Thnx for the review man.

kinda cliche, but well done!!!

allright, so here's the breakdown. this song is pretty well written, and well mixed. i would just work on making it sound a little more distinguished from the shit that's already there on the market. but hey, it's still a good piece! keep up the good work, and hit me up some time, i'm curious to see what you'd think of my stuff.

DaGrahamCraka responds:

thx, ill check out your stuff.

hey, dis shyt is pretty fukqin good!

Now to start this review off, i have to say, this is a pretty good piece, but definitely not your best. If i could change some things, i would probably change that pulsating synth that starts the song off, and try to make the melody a little more diverse and less video game like. Though don't get me wrong, cause i'm definitely not trying to bash this piece. It for sure has some great production value! Keep up the good work! oh, and check my latest piece and tell me what you think of the remastering. Anyways, keep on truckin, you're heading in the right direction with these pieces!

g-r4ve responds:

I like the pulsating synth =[ lol
